Massey's really is the perfect pizza. Columbus style crust and cut at its finest. 155 (!) pepperoni slices on the large. That is a whole lotta meat. Friendly. Good. Will do again. P.S. Fantastic meatballs.
Overview
Walking into Massey's Pizza Westerville for the first time felt familiar in the best way, like stepping into a neighborhood spot thatβs been doing things right for years without making a fuss about it. Located at 399 S State St, Westerville, OH 43081, United States, this diner-style pizzeria has become a regular stop for locals who care about flavor, consistency, and a menu that doesnβt try to reinvent pizza just to stand out.
Iβve eaten here more times than I can count, both dining in after a long workday and grabbing carryout for family nights. What keeps me coming back is the balance between comfort and quality. The thin crust is their calling card, baked until crisp with that signature edge that longtime fans recognize instantly. The process is simple but deliberate: dough made fresh, toppings spread evenly, and pizzas baked on stone decks that help deliver an even cook. That method isnβt accidental. According to research shared by the National Restaurant Association, consistency in preparation is one of the top reasons customers return to independent restaurants, and this place clearly understands that principle.
The menu goes beyond pizza, though thatβs what most reviews rave about. Youβll find classic subs, salads, and appetizers that actually feel like they belong, not filler items. One example that stands out is their meat-lovers pizza, layered carefully so every bite tastes balanced instead of overloaded. I once brought out-of-town friends here who expected typical chain pizza, and they were surprised by how light yet satisfying it felt. That reaction lines up with broader data from the USDA, which shows diners increasingly prefer meals that are flavorful without feeling heavy.
What also makes this location work is the atmosphere. Itβs casual, welcoming, and unpretentious. Families come in after school events, couples stop by for quick dinners, and regulars greet the staff by name. During one visit, I watched a staff member remember a customerβs usual order without being prompted, a small moment that says a lot about how this place operates day to day. That kind of service builds trust, something reviewers consistently mention online when talking about this Westerville location.
Westerville itself has a growing food scene, partly influenced by its proximity to Ohio State University, where students and families alike look for reliable, affordable dining options. This pizzeria fits that need well. While some restaurants chase trends, this one sticks to a proven formula. It may not cater to every dietary preference, and those looking for gourmet or experimental flavors might feel limited, but thatβs also part of its honesty. You know what youβre getting, and itβs done well.
Pizza remains one of the most ordered meals in the U.S., with Americans consuming roughly 3 billion pizzas annually according to industry data, and places like this show why the classic model still works. The combination of crisp crust, generous toppings, and steady quality explains the loyal following. Words like handcrafted, thin crust, and family favorite come up often in casual conversations and reviews, and they fit naturally here.
In a town with multiple dining locations competing for attention, this spot continues to earn its place through experience rather than hype. The food, the people, and the consistency come together in a way that feels genuine, making it easy to see why so many locals treat it as their go-to pizza stop.

Absolutely love this place. Its my favorite around. This last time the food wasn't as good as normal. The pepperoni pizza was dripping in grease and breadsticks were soggy when I got home. This was a one off though. Normally the pizza is on point. The staff are always friendly. The buffet is great as well.
I saw the add for the chicken carbonara pizza and was calling before they opened today to order one. First off - this is so delicious. The crust is the best pan pizza crust I have had in town. It is the buttery goodness that finishes it off. The pizza is the perfect balance of deliciousness. The bacon and chicken compliment the Alfredo sauce - their special blend of cheese is so good, those peas are critical to the pizza ecosystem of enjoyment!! Our pickup time was 11:20 on a Wednesday- not sure of busy and all the best of good.
We had the chicken bacon barbecue pizza... And the taco fiesta pizza... The taco fiesta pizza is the best taco pizza I've ever had in my life and I was skeptical with the banana peppers but it actually set the whole thing off! I most definitely recommend stopping in here maybe after swimming at the local pool... Really neat building curious if it was an old movie theater...
